Day 8: Ngorongoro Serena Safari
lodge: |
|
Perched on the jagged rim of the
crater, wreathed in morning
mist, camouflaged in river-stone
and cloaked in indigenous
creepers, the Ngorongoro Serena
Safari Lodge is a triumph of
ecological and architectural
fusion. Sensitively constructed
so as to take nothing from its
environment whilst affording
endless vistas over the
heat-shimmering reaches of the
crater below, the clustered
boulder-built buildings of the
Lodge hug the crater rim, linked
by rope-lashed timber walkways
that skirt the buttressed roots
of ancient, liana-hung trees. |

Day
1 1and 11:
Ocean paradise resort,
(based on bed and breakfast): |
|
Ocean Paradise is seated
on Zanzibar’s gorgeous north eastern
coast, with the Indian Ocean at its
feet. Palm trees, sand, sun and makuti
roofs shield and
separate the 100 rooms
and suites, each facing
out towards the
beckoning sea. Meals
consist of everything
from the essence of
Zanzibar spices and
aroma to the epitome of
European comforts in
cheeses and cold cuts.
You can have it all, at
Ocean Paradise. Though
diving into the ocean
may not be the plan of
action, the huge
swimming pool definitely
quenches the thirst.
Lazy at the side of the
pool reading a book, or
try out the sports rooms
for some billiards or
table tennis. Enjoy
dinner (included in tour
price). |

|
Day
12:
The Serena Inn: |
|
The Serena Inn floats on
the sea front of Stone Town, the
old side of Zanzibar city, where
the setting is marked by winding
alleys and narrow pathways to
mosques and shops. The hotel is
built of 51 rooms and suites,
with air conditioning and
private balcony for each. The
exotic region is marked by its
affinity for spices, and there
is no stopping the chefs from
incorporating these sometimes
potent, sometimes subtle
flavours
into its menu. The history,
infinite cultural roots and
ancient architecture are reason
enough to wander this island,
but feel free to take part in
the dhow cruise, dolphin cruise,
or cultural talks. Enjoy dinner
(included in tour price). |
