The number one concern for some travellers is in fact food safety. Some of our clients were amazed – absolutely blown-away – to have gone on a Kilimanjaro climb with us without having had any stomach problems that they had anticipated as a “standard experience” after reading various guidebooks or internet forums. We are not guaranteeing that you will not experience any mild stomach upsets on your trip, as it is a common experience when travelling abroad, eating out at various unfamiliar venues from day to day. But we do boast the highest food safety standards you’d find on Mount Kilimanjaro.
Food safety is not a matter of luck. It involves numerous factors and is largely dependent on a company’s practices. Such factors include the cook’s training and experience, equipment and supplies provided by the company, and the service standards set out by the company.
Here are some highlights of Amani Afrika’s practices:
We provide 3 meals a day on the mountain. On long hiking days, you will receive a packed lunch prepared by your cook in the morning. On shorter hiking days, you will get to have hot lunch when you arrive at camp. All meals are specially designed to ensure that you will stay nourished during your Kilimanjaro climb.
